Teams with stand-ins were the bane of Complexity in Dallas

Complexity get sent packing from Dallas by NIP

The North American side was unable to find their footing on home turf.

Complexity find themselves departing early from IEM Dallas 2022, after falling 0-2 in their lower bracket elimination game to NIP. This result comes just after a 16-4 trouncing of the squad by MIBR in their opening match.

Complexity's series against NIP kicked off on the American side's pick of Vertigo, where things started off fairly close. NIP took a 4-1 lead on their CT-side, but Complexity kept things close, eventually tying up the game 5-5. Unfortunately, the Swedes composed themselves in the latter portion of the half, going on a five-round run to finish off the half with a promising 10-5 scoreline.

NIP kept their streak rolling on their T-side, claiming five of the first six rounds to put themselves on match point thanks to a 2.48 T-side rating from Fredrik "REZ" Sterner. Complexity started to piece things together after NIP hit match point, but by that point, it was simply too large of a gap to overcome as NIP stole away Complexity's pick 16-9

Complexity fared considerably better on their opponent's choice of Overpass, stringing together five rounds early on to build a decent lead. Despite the strong start, things started to slip away for Complexity as NIP put themselves in the driver's seat, claiming seven of the next nine rounds. In the end, Complexity were able to snatch the last round of the half to lock in an 8-7 CT-side half.

Things looked like they were about to fall apart for Complexity, as NIP secured the first six rounds of their CT-side to take the lead 13-8. With their backs nearing the wall, Ricky "floppy" Kemery played a key role in finally getting some T-side rounds for Complexity, allowing the Americans to nearly tie up the game with a 13-12 scoreline. Unfortunately for Complexity, the squad was unable to keep this newfound momentum up, as NIP closed out the map 16-12, keeping their tournament run alive.
