broky thought of the Boston Major when NAVI launched their comeback attempt

broky: "I will just stay humble and win my second Major"

The AWPer praised FaZe's mentality throughout the whole tournament.

Dust2.us' Ryan Friend was able to sit down with Helvijs "broky" Saukants following FaZe's 2-0 victory over NAVI to become PGL Antwerp Major champions. The two spoke about how it feels to be on a team like FaZe, broky's thoughts on winning the Major and what the 21-year-old was thinking about throughout the grand final matchup.

broky, congratulations on winning the Major, you have consistently been the standout player on this team throughout the first half of the year, what does it mean to have a squad that is able to pick you up and continue to propel you to new heights?

It means a lot for us, I think everyone stepped up this Major, and everyone had a good game. I think rain had an incredible Major and I think he fucking deserves it, he proved all the doubters wrong, all the haters. It's like a family atmosphere in the team, I think that's the main reason we won.

Do you think being so coordinated is what has been helping you succeed and be the number one team in the world?

Yeah I think one of the main reasons we won is our mentality. We had many rounds in the playoffs where we lost 4v1, and we still came back. We said, "It doesn't matter, we're going to win" and we did.

This has obviously been a lifelong dream for you, you've gone through several different teams and now you're here at this level, what does it mean for you to win this Major?

I mean, it's still kind of only the start of my career, so I will just stay humble and win my second Major.

I was talking with ropz, he was taking me a bit through the games. That Inferno game, obviously you jumped out and almost lost it, what was your mentality when things started to seem like they were slipping away?

You know what happened four years ago? For me, it started to come into my mind when we started losing and it started getting close; 12-13, 13-13, it's crazy man. I'm just happy we won the game.

What was going through your team's mind as you were getting back and finishing that one off? Was there anything you wanted to change up in overtime?

Not really, I think everyone - after we went 15-15 - everyone knew we were going to win after having such great mentality throughout the whole tournament - everyone believed I think.

And finally, going into that Nuke game, it seemed like a surprise pick by NAVI, ropz said you were expecting Dust2. But, knowing that it was Nuke, were you significantly more confident about closing this one out 2-0?

We expected Nuke or Ancient as the third map, so we still had it prepared and we knew what they were going to do and we won the game.

FaZe have had little time to celebrate their Major win as they're now ready to compete in IEM Dallas, with their first matchup versus Encore set to kick off on Monday at 01:10PM.
