The AWPer & IGL is out after a poor Major showing

WOOD7 replaced in MIBR after seven-month tenure

The Brazilian squad will look for a reset of identity during the break after dropping their leader.

In-game leader and AWPer Adriano “WOOD7” Cerato is out of MIBR’s starting lineup after narrowly missing the PGL Major Antwerp Legends Stage with a 2-3 record in the Challengers Stage, the Brazilian organization announced on Twitter on Tuesday. WOOD7 finished the event as the only player under a 1.00 rating for the team over the eight maps.

The lineup experienced fairly impressive success under the helm of WOOD7. During the team’s 63-24 win-loss record, which at their peaks, included dominance inside ESEA Advanced S39 and ECL S40 which saw the squad finish both in first place. The team notably claimed first place in ECL without dropping a single game, a rather impressive feat. Despite the team’s dominant runs amongst the lower levels and a second-place finish inside the Americas RMR, the WOOD7-led lineup could not replicate the success inside the stages of Antwerp. Regardless of the impressive leadership provided by WOOD7, the lack of impact from the AWP was more than the team could overcome against the world’s best teams.

Taking WOOD7’s place is Breno “brnz4n” Poletto from MIBR Academy. The 18-year-old is taking a major leap in his young career, as the rifler had only been a part of the academy lineup for nine months before taking this advancement opportunity on the main roster. The decision to make a change from within comes as no surprise, as organizations have been shifting as of late to maintaining academy teams and upgrading from within as opposed to building with outside pieces. Although the removal of WOOD7 means the lineup is without an experienced AWPer or in-game leader, it is assumed the swift internal decision-making from MIBR means they are prepared for any obstacles during the transition.

MIBR’s lineup is now:

  • Brazil Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes

  • Brazil Raphael "exit" Lacerda

  • Brazil Matheus "Tuurtle" Anhaia

  • Brazil Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian

  • Brazil Breno "brnz4n" Poletto

  • Brazil Bruno "bit" Lima (Coach)

With the player break nearly underway, we will not be seeing the debut of MIBR with brnz4n until their next ECL match against Carpe Diem, which takes place on the 25th of May.
