paiN bolster roster with nython as new fifth

After losing Rafael "saffee" Costa to rival Brazilian organization FURIA, paiN have found a new AWPer in Gabriel "nython" Lino. The 24-year-old spent the last four months with Isurus where he saw moderate success despite the squad being unable to best South American kings 9z in the top regional competitions.

During his time with Isurus, nython managed a 1.16 rating across 38 maps including standout performances in his final two matches with the squad against Argentinian sides Leviatán and River Plate. At his final tournament with the team, nython produced a career-high and event-best 1.51 LAN rating, helping his team secure the La Liga Supercopa trophy in Buenos Aires. To round out the year, nython was ranked the third best player playing in Brazil by DRAFT5, being bested only by Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian and Santino "try" Rigal.

paiN's acquisition of nython is the first addition the squad has made since the signing of saffee in July of 2020. Prior to saffee's exit, paiN was quite successful competing in North America, with their strong performance earning the team a spot at the PGL Stockholm Major where the Brazillian side had an unfortunate early exit following a 1-3 record in the Challengers Stage.

paiN have yet to play a single match in the new-look ESL Challenger League but look to be favorites to top Group A after reaching playoffs and placing third in ESEA Premier Season 39. The team have also secured a place at the EPL Conference for Season 16 in June after ChocoCheck were stripped of their second place prize money and qualification paths due to forfeiting the grand final versus Extra Salt in December.
