First day of ECS Season 6 Open Qualifier #1 complete
The first day of the first open qualifier for the ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup has concluded, and we're down to the final eight teams out of the 67 teams that signed up to the tournament.
The qualifier went off without any real hitches, however there were a few notable teams not in attendance with a few teams taking part in Gfinity Spring Series playoffs which clashed with the qualifier. Notable examples of teams missing out include Fam143 and oNe, however the latter team may or may not have other reasons for their absence.
The first notable match-ups came in the third round of play, where Glockoma beat VAULT 16-7 on Inferno, AZIO took down Whatever it Takes 16-2 on Inferno and Gorilla Gang narrowly passed Vireo.pro in a 22-19 overtime match on Mirage. AZIO were then taken down by Swole Patrol, featuring Owen "oBo" Schlatter instead of Braxton "swag" Pierce due to the latter still being banned from ECS competition, 16-4 on Overpass.
This leaves the tournament at the best-of-three quarterfinal stage featuring the following matchups for the qualifier, commencing at 9 PM EDT:

The top two teams from this qualifier will head to the Challenger Cup, with the final two qualification spots chosen from this weekend's second qualifier, where sign-ups are still open.
