Splyce and Ghost to ROG MASTERS Americas Grand Final

The two teams will face off tomorrow to see which squad will represent North America at the Grand Finals in Kuala Lumpur.

Four teams gathered this weekend to determine which of them would progress to an even bigger LAN being held later in the year — ESL Pro League sides Splyce, Ghost, and Rogue, and ESEA MDL team subtLe.

The first semi-final was played between Splyce and subtLe. Despite subtLe having Kyuhyun "blade" William Uhm, known for his time in RUSH, behind them, they were no match for Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen and his men. The veteran must have missed playing on LAN, because he was the highest rated player on his team across both maps, which were both easily won by his squad — who did not allow subtLe to reach double-digits on either.

The next semi-final was the more anticipated of the two, due to it being less of a mismatch. Not only that, but this was also to be the first LAN outing for Rogue as a unit since coming together and incorporating Spencer "Hiko" Martin and Casper "cadiaN" Møller.

More interesting still was the fact that Ghost turned up to the event toting coach Phong "bee" Nguyen as their fifth and not Dallas "Dallas" Micks. The switch didn't seem to faze Ghost on either Mirage or Train, which they won handily to take the series, with Ronnie "ryx" Bylicki leading the charge.

Sandwiched between those two map wins for Ghost was an authoritative win for Rogue on Inferno. Newcomer Møller topped the scoreboard for Rogue both on the map and across the series, but the team ultimately fell short as a whole, with recently un-benched captain Josh "shinobi" Abastado having an unseemly stat line for the BO3 as a whole.

As mentioned, Splyce and Ghost will play each other tomorrow in the Best-of-Five Grand Final. Unlike previous ROG MASTERS Regional Finals, the match actually means something due to their only being one spot at the ROG MASTERS Grand Finals LAN event in Kuala Lumpur. That match is set to be played tomorrow (November 5) at 1:30 PM EST.
