Nurfed returns to MDL

Mythic and Big Frames qualify for MDL Season 32; heX, Prospects eliminated

Just two spots in MDL remain as the four remaining teams look to advance later tonight.

The second round of the MDL Season 31 Relegation tournament has come to an end, seeing two teams through to Season 32 and an additional two relegated down to Advanced.

The two lower bracket matches were the first to conclude, with Bushido Boyz sending heX packing in two one-sided maps. Twelve rounds on the CT-side of Mirage allowed for Christopher "Swahn" Swahn's side to close out their opponent's map pick 16-3, with heX managing only seven rounds on the CT-side of Overpass before the series was closed out with a 16-10 win.

A similar scenario unfolded as Just Swing made short work of Prospects, initially grabbing a 9-6 scoreline on Dust2 before giving up just three rounds in the second half to take the map 16-9. Prospects fared no better on their own pick of Inferno, with Just Swing dominating on the defensive side to close out the series with a 16-2 victory.

Mythic continue to hold on to their title as the gatekeepers of MDL as they were the first team to re-qualify for Season 32, defeating Kyle "OCEAN" O'Brien's absolute mad lads in a two-map series. Despite starting Nuke down 1-5 on the defense, Erik "fl0m" Flom and company managed to recover the first half to take the lead at 9-6 as they swapped sides.

A back-and-forth brawl in the second half saw neither team manage to string together more than a handful of rounds. A strong performance by fl0m allowed for Mythic to edge out their opponent's map pick 16-14, with fl0m putting up 31 frags to help take the map over the line for his side.

The second map of the series was a far more clear-cut affair as Mythic took a 10-5 lead at the end of their defensive half of Mirage. Three additional rounds following a pistol win in the second half put Mythic in touching distance of a map victory, which they took no time in seizing as they closed out the series with a 16-8 win.

The most dominant result of the night saw Jimmy "Nurfed" McFadden's Big Frames claim victory over Thunder Logic with two stellar opening halves on Mirage and Overpass. A 10-5 offensive half on Mirage allowed for a swift 16-10 victory to open the series, while an impenetrable defense on Overpass saw Nurfed's side rack up 13 rounds before they closed out the map 16-7 to earn their spot in MDL Season 32.
