Drip or Drown win Mad City Open: Chicago
Overcoming the impossible, Drip or Drown secure the Mad City LAN: Chicago title and a crisp $7,000 over defending champions duo Ian "motm" Hardy and Josh "oSee" Ohm. Will "dazzLe" Loafman and Andrew "ShoT_UP" Orlowski have secured their revenge against them, when the now-Etherian duo beat them at Mad City LAN 3.
The first map of the series did not set a precedent for how the reach of the day would go. A 16-4 on Overpass from Etherian was to many people's surprise as Ian "motm" Hardy boldozed Drip or Drown. His 25 frags in 13 rounds led the way to an easy victory. Something they wouldn't soon acquire again.
Cache was nothing short of difficult for Etherian to win as it took them into the 40th round to finally secure the W. Infinite kept pace with the round total at 40-22, no doubt being the MVP caliber player they needed him to be.
The next map would change the tide of the entire series. With another lengthy game to play, Mirage was down to the wire at 16-14. Truly an effort from all players on Drip or Drown to maintain their spot in the event.
With Mirage in the books, Inferno was Drip or Drown's turn to make a mockery of Etherian. An identical scoreline of 16-4 saw Etherian begin to sweat as now they had to face the test of a fifth map.
Train was the setting of the historic event. To start, Etherian were starting to take care of business. Up 7-2, it was thought that they would be able to maintain the pace they were setting. To their own dismay, the 5 round lead they once had soon turned into a 6 round run from Drip or Drown to lead the first half 8-7. They never looked back. En route to the title, Drip or Drown came up with 7 Counter-Terrorist rounds to snag a 16-9 victory, and the reverse sweep.
