The annual Olympic-style WESG draws ever closer.

Groups drawn for WESG World Finals

The WESG World Finals comes one step closer to fruition with the drawing of the groups.

The groups have finally been drawn for the WESG World Finals that is set to take place March 13-18 in Haikou, China. The group stage will be played in a round-robin format where eight groups of four teams will duke it out for a spot in a second round-robin stage that will follow.

North American teams subtLe and SWOLE PATROL are in the relatively balanced Groups of A & B, while The Onliners and Cloud9 will have to face-off against fnatic in Group G. fnatic recently eliminated Liquid in the semifinals of IEM Katowice and are set to meet FaZe in the Grand Finals later tonight. With Cloud9 having fallen short at cs_summit 2  to and dropping out at Katowice earlier than they had hoped, they look to regain traction after their Major Championship victory that has set them to a new standard.

The most heavily stacked group appears to be Group D, which hosts heavyweights SK, BIG, New4 and Russia. While the prior two need no introduction, Russia is made up of CIS titans Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov, Georgi "WorldEdit" Yaskin, Denis "electronic" Sharipov, Denis "seized" Kostin and Egor "flamie" Vasilyev.
