Some exciting action was found this morning in Kiev

Cloud9 and SK go 1-0 through demolition of opponents

The early morning games saw the Americas teams both secure wins in just two maps.

You might have missed these games earlier, being they were in the middle of the night. So here's Dust2.us to provide you a recap of Cloud9's game against Heroic and SK's match with MVP. Cloud9 were set to face off against Heroic on Overpass, Inferno and Train.

Cloud9 started the first map on their CT-side, taking the pistol and following anti-ecos in a swift fashion. The Danes then secured the delayed first full buy round to get a hand into the game. However that wasn't enough for Heroic, as Cloud9 just started to batter them from there on out.

Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham and Jake "Stewie2K" Yip lead their team through key kills as round after round went to the Major champions. Although some rounds were close, Cloud9 kept on closing them out and went into the half 14-1 ahead.

The second half was over before it really started. With the pistol round going Cloud9's way, the end result was inevitable as the anti-eco went to the Americans. This saw them secure the first map 16-1.

The second map was a much closer affair. Although Cloud9 began on their CT-side with the pistol and first anti-eco, Heroic took the third round from a forcebuy. But the Americans bounced back almost immediately with a force of their own, as Tarik "tarik" Celik and co. were looking in a position to repeat some of their map one feats.

But it was Andreas "MODDII" Fridh who started to pull his team ahead, taking four kills to slot another round on the board, even if Skadoodle did the exact same back in the next round. Jakob "JUGi" Hansen was the next player to take multiple kills as Heroic finally started to string rounds together, closing down Cloud9's lead against them. The Americans took the final two rounds of the half for a 9-6 lead.

The second half began with a close pistol round and anti-eco rounds going the way of the Danes. But Cloud9 weren't out, securing the following two rounds off the back of a forcebuy, with Will "RUSH" Wierzba taking four kills in the second round to regain their lead. But disaster struck for the Americans as JUGi more or less single handedly secured the next round by himself with a USP.

From there Heroic secured six back-to-back rounds to reach the coveted 14 round total, thanks to the likes of MODDII and JUGi turning up in force for the Danish team. Even with rounds going close, their strong CT-side defenses were looking to be too much for Cloud9 to defeat.

But the final four rounds saw tarik and the rest of his team shift their game up a gear. Timothy "autimatic" Ta and Skadoodle effectively had a switch flicked in their head, exploding into the final few rounds to make sure Cloud9 didn't see their map slip away from them. Thanks to this they secured match point, before taking the final round of regulation with minimal casualties to take Overpass 16-14.

SK and MVP played at the same time, and faced off on Inferno, Cobblestone and Mirage in their opening game. The Brazilians opened up the first map on their T-side, taking the first five rounds from the pistol round to grasp ahold of the map. MVP did return to take the next three rounds, with Keun-Chul "solo" Kang taking three to make sure their lead was kept.

But from there it was effectively all SK's half. Fernando "fer" Alvarenga continued taking a key role throughout each round as he saw his team go forward and take a strong lead. Marcelo "coldzera" David also returned to his starring role as SK went 10-3 up. MVP secured the final two rounds of the first half, but SK kept a 10-5 lead.

The second half was entirely SK's playpen. The CT-side pistol round was the starting gun to completely demolish their way through MVP's attacking play to take a dominant 16-5 lead on the first map.

Next up was Cobblestone, and it was MVP to start their T-side off with the pistol round, thanks to four kills from Min-Seok "zeff" Park, before taking the two anti-ecos. SK then secured the first buy round before the Korean side resumed their lead with the next two rounds, including four kills from Hyun-Pyo "XigN" Lee. MVP kept such a run going as they went 9-3 up, a marked change from the first map.

The final three rounds went SK's way, a possible sign of things to come, with Epitacio "TACO" de Melo and Ricardo "boltz" Prass taking a starring role to close the gap between the two sides. But it was the Koreans retaining the lead, at 9-6.

But the second half was more or less entirely Brazilian colored. boltz started the return with four kills on their T-side pistol, evening the game up with the next two anti-eco rounds. In a mirror of the first half, MVP took the first buy round but it wasn't enough to prevent SK from taking the game off of them.

Round after round, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's men secured dominant rounds through multiple strong site takes, preventing MVP from getting back into the game. With match point easily achieved, the Brazilians ended the game 16-10.
