Marsborne take down BESTIA, Imperial to reach Circuit X Pantanal Cuiabá grand finals keeping Major dream alive
Marsborne have advanced to the grand finals of the $25,000 Circuit X Pantanal Cuiabá LAN in Brazil following pivotal wins over BESTIA and Imperial in playoffs today. While the wins are significant in their own right, they have even more significance in Marsborne's hunt for a spot in the IEM Cologne Major as Marsborne's results in Cuiabá have shot up in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), with Marsborne now having a chance of qualifying to the IEM Cologne Major!
Marsborne's day began with a strong showing against BESTIA, dispatching the Argentine team in two maps amidst great performances from Adam "WolfY" Andersson and Adam "Grizz" Golden. Inferno saw the team trail 5-7 at the end of the first half due to a sluggish T-side before Marsborne put on a clinic on their CT-side, winning eight rounds in a row before securing Mirage 13-8.
Moving onto Ancient, Marsborne continued their dominant streak as they won seven out of the first right rounds on their CT-side before locking down the first half 9-3. After switching sides, a perfect T-side set the stage for Marsborne to take Ancient 10-3 and send BESTIA packing.

Their next match against Imperial saw Marsborne start in rough shape as Imperial won their opening CT-side outright with a 9-3 lead before closing out the map 13-4. Moving onto Overpass, Marsborne were still a bit sluggish, however they were able to eke out a slim 7-5 lead on their CT-side. Moving into the second half Imperial won the first three rounds of the half, reclaiming the lead, before Marsborne ran away with the game on their T-side to take the map 13-9.
With the series tied up, Mirage began with Marsborne leading 5-1 on their T-side despite losing the opening pistol round. This lead unfortunately did not amount to a blowout in the first half as Imperial found their way back into their CT-side, leaving Marsborne with a modest 7-5 lead at halftime. On their CT-side, Marsborne lost the second pistol round of the map, however it did not stop the team from entrenching their lead as they won the next three rounds to climb double digits.
From there, despite the best efforts of Imperial to get back in the game combined heroics from Grizz and Danny "Cxzi" Strzelczyk allowed Marsborne to stay ahead. A late-game 1v3 by Cxzi helped avoid overtime before Marsborne won Mirage 13-10 to make their way to the grand finals!
