Passion UA reverse-swept out of Kraków
With tournament lives on the line, Passion UA faced off against NIP. Both teams looked to rebound from yesterday’s losses, and Passion looked to be doing so, before suffering another devastating reverse sweep.
Passion UA opened their map pick of Overpass with a pistol round win, and their middling T side kept the score close enough at 5-7. However, they would need Michael "Grim" Wince to step up on the CT side if they were to win anything comfortably. Sure enough, Grim and Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli teamed up for 1.39 and 1.60 ratings, respectively, and Passion UA's T side was near perfect in the 13-8 victory.
On their map pick of Nuke, NIP would take the pistol and an early lead with Kacper "xKacpersky" Gabara at the forefront. Passion UA were only able to muster two round wins in the half, the second of which came by way of a Vladyslav "Kvem" Korol 1v3. They would win the second pistol, but to little effect as NIP players took turns popping off, this time Artem "cairne" Mushynskyi up next. To add insult to injury, xKacpersky would 1v4 and narrowly defuse bomb to close the map, pretty accurately summarizing a rather lopsided affair on Nuke.
The Anubis pistol round also went to NIP. Luckily for Passion UA, this half resembled the back-and-forth opening of Overpass rather than the one-sidedness of Nuke. It would end 7-5 in favor of the Europeans, and although the second half started well for Passion UA, they would continue giving up clutches and multikils in situations where they had the numbers and economic advantages.
Ultimately, their failure to convert these types of rounds is what put the game out of Passion UA's reach. By the time they did regain momentum, NIP was already on series point.
