ScreaM in 2026? I'd like to see that

Breaking: ScreaM announces return to competition at HLTV Awards

Do you believe in a comeback?

At the HLTV Awards today, Belgian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive legend Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom announced his intentions to return to competition six years after retiring from the game. The "headshot machine" said that he wants to challenge himself to return to form and compete in Counter-Strike once more.

The 31-year-old former Envy and G2 has been out of action for some time, last playing for GamerLegion alongside fellow Belgian Kevin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans before leaving to VALORANT in mid-2020. From there, ScreaM competed for a further three years before hanging up the mouse entirely after playing for Karmine Corp.

For a player of ScreaM's age and length of retirement to return to active competition is unheard of, with the game changing significantly since Benriltom's heyday. Even in 2019, ScreaM was considered a player at the end of his career, with any return now being a massive challenge.

However, ScreaM has clearly been weighing the challenge for some time, announcing his intentions back in May when he joined FUT's short-lived French roster alongside his brother Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom.

A likely path for ScreaM would likely be to join his brother on a new team or to join one of the squads in the French subtop like Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt's GenOne roster.
