NRG sold to DarkZero for undisclosed amount

DarkZero will retain NRG's teams and employees in the acquisition.

NRG has been sold to Las Vegas-based esports organization DarkZero in what's been described as an "undisclosed asset sale". DarkZero will carry the NRG brand, including all players and most of the org's staff. NRG founder and CEO Andy Miller will remain with the company in an advisory capacity to assist DarkZero CEO Don Kim during the transition.

In a video posted on X, Miller described the sale as a "passing of the torch" to DarkZero as the next holders of the NRG brand, legacy, and its fanbase.

NRG was founded in 2015 by Andy Miller and currently holds teams in Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, and Rocket League. Most recently, NRG's VALORANT roster claimed the title of World Champions at VALORANT Champions 2025 in Paris.

NRG has also enjoyed a rich history in Counter-Strike esports, qualifying for four Major Championships, including the BLAST.tv Austin and StarLadder Budapest Majors this year. The org's highest placing at a Major came at StarLadder Berlin with a roster featuring the likes of Tarik "tarik" Celik and current NRG VALORANT star Ethan "Ethan" Arnold, where they fell in the semi-finals to eventual champions Astralis.

In a video to NRG's fans, Andy Miller expressed optimism, saying that DarkZero will be "great stewards of the NRG brand", and that NRG will still be NRG just with "some new faces and some new energy behind the brand".

NRG's first CS event after its acquisition by DarkZero will be fl0m Mythical LAN from January 9th to January 11th in Las Vegas, NV.
