Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 5 Day #1 recap: Voca, BOSS sweep their opening day opponents
The fifth Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series began last night, with three matches kicking off the first day of play.
Akimbo downed SkinRave in a three-map series while Voca and BOSS swept Straight2Killin and Pulse, respectively.
Akimbo 2-1 
SkinRave
Akimbo chose Nuke to begin the series, but it was SkinRave who took advantage on the CT side. SkinRave started 9-3 in the first half, putting the game all but passed Akimbo. However, Akimbo couldn't pull it back in their own defensive half, losing 13-3.
SkinRave's map pick was Dust2, but it was a script reversal from the first game. Akimbo took a solid 8-4 lead at the half. SkinRave leveled the map at 9-9, but it was Akimbo who finished strong with a 13-9 scoreline.
The deciding map was Mirage, with both teams taking their rounds in bunches to start the map. Akimbo got the better of those runs, though, holding an 8-4 lead at halftime after a streak of three and five rounds sandwiched a SkinRave four-round run. SkinRave closed the gap to three rounds early in the second half, but that was as close as they would get. Akimbo closed the series with a 13-8 win on Mirage.

Voca 2-0 Straight2Killin
Straight2Killin elected to start the series on Dust2. Voca chose to start as CT, jumping out to an 8-2 lead. S2K won the final two rounds of the first half to make the deficit more manageable in the second half. Voca did take a 12-7 lead, putting their opponent on the brink in the first map. S2K battled back again but it wasn't enough as they fell 13-11 on their pick.
Voca's choice was Nuke, but SkinRave couldn't take advantage of the CT side. They did hold a 4-3 lead early, but Voca finished the first half with a five-round streak to hold another 8-4 halftime lead. Voca easily converted that lead into a 13-5 win to start 1-0 in Eagle Masters.

BOSS 2-0 Pulse
The last match of the night was BOSS v. Pulse, with Pulse's pick being Inferno. BOSS took the advantage early, taking a 9-3 lead on the CT side. The second half was more evenly played, but that favored BOSS's built-up lead, as they won the first map 13-7.
BOSS chose Ancient to try to close out the series. Both teams jockeyed for the lead in the first half, with BOSS holding a slight 7-5 lead. Pulse couldn't overturn that in the second half, only winning one round and losing the map 13-6 to BOSS.
