M80 fall to ENCE in EPL S22 opener
This afternoon, M80 dropped their opening series of ESL Pro League Season 22 against ENCE in a close 2-1 loss. The M80 crew suddenly found themselves stacked up against ENCE after Virtus.pro were turned away from the Swedish border, with ENCE being called in last-minute to replace the Russian squad.
The script suddenly being flipped certainly didn't help things as the series kicked off on Dust2, with ENCE taking an early 9-3 lead on their T-side before M80 closed the gap significantly on their own T-side, at one point tying things up 10-10. Unfortunately for M80, ENCE would find their footing in the final rounds of the map, winning their map pick 13-10.
Moving onto Mirage, M80 started their map pick off in a sluggish fashion, starting the map 4-0 down closing the gap on their T-side to a 5-7 deficit. After switching sides, M80 finally showed their strong form on Mirage with a near-perfect CT-side as Fritz "slaxz-" Dietrich led his team to a 13-9 victory on the map.
With the series tied up, M80 once again started a map on the backfoot as ENCE's T-side was suffocating on Ancient, with the European team kicking things off by going 5-0 up against M80 before winning the half 9-3. In the second half, M80 were finally able to scrape together a competitive map, evenly trading rounds with ENCE, however it was too little too late as ENCE went on to take Ancient 13-8.
M80 will look to lock in a win tomorrow against HEROIC at 09:30AM.
