ESL Challenger League S50 NA Cup #1: Day 1-3 Recap
The first NA Cup in the new ESL Challenger League format for Season 50 has already advanced past two upper bracket rounds and a lower bracket round. Only 16 teams remain, all vying for that first of four spots at the regional final.
Rather than individually cover 24 matches that have taken place, let's hit the major stories over the first few days.
Mythic stun Getting Info in lower bracket
Getting Info, one of the higher ranked NA teams in the Cup, are already out after giving up losses to Marca Registrada and Mythic. Marca Registrada somehow managed to come back from losing 13-1 on Ancient to win Getting Info's opening series, sending them down to the lower bracket.

As if that wasn't bad enough for Getting Info, they then loss to the considerably older "stream team" on Mythic, led by top-fragging veteran Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue, who un-retired earlier this year. This stunning upset has sent Getting Info crashing out of the cup, and sets up Mythic with a lower bracket match against Chicken Coop.

A stacked upper bracket field
Most of the teams still in the upper bracket are the highly ranked squads we expected to make deep runs. Both NRG and BLUEJAYS have literally not even been tested yet as they won by forfeit against getting info and ASPYRE, respectively. M80 made quick and easy work of Team Aether, as did BOSS against Legacy Kingdom.
BOSS and BLUEJAYS will meet for the second time in just the past three weeks. Back in February it was BLUEJAYS that acquired the BOSS roster, though Keller "SLIGHT" Nilan and Gavin "Fruitcupx" Norman would end up back under the BOSS banner anyway in just a matter of months.
