ESL announces ECL S50 Cup 1 invites announced
ESL just released the team lists for the first edition of the ESL Challenger League Cup. The ECL Cup is replacing the traditional league format, giving ECL teams more flexibility to participate in other tournaments while still competing in ECL.
The winner of each of the four ECL Season 50 Cups will advance to the regional finals, where the winner of that tournament will qualify for ESL Pro League Season 23.
In North America, 24 teams will take part in the first ECL Cup with 17 teams being invited via VRS and the remaining seven earning their spot via placement in ESEA Advanced S52 and S53.
The ECL Cup will be a double-elimination bracket where the winner will secure their place in the regional finals. The winner of this edition of the ECL Cup can participate in future cups to secure themselves an advantage in the regional finals. If a team wins two ECL Cups, they qualify directly for the final of the regional finals. Three wins will result in the cancellation of the semifinals. If a squad wins all four ECL Cups, they bypass the regional finals and qualify directly for the Pro League.
Complexity, Wildcard, Nouns, ex-Party Astronauts, ex-LAG, chicken coop, girl kissers, black mold, and MEGA JUNERS all declined invites to the first ECL Cup of Season 50.
