phzy shines as stand-in for Iberian Soul after Wildcard benching
Following his move to the Wildcard bench, Swedish player Love "phzy" Smidebrant is making the most of a new opportunity, winning the Exort The Proving Grounds Season 2 grand finals with Spanish team Iberian Soul.
Iberian Soul won the first match of the tournament with Portuguese player Renato "stadodo" Gonçalves, though he left the team and the organization right after, opening up an opportunity for the benched phzy. Their first win together was a unique one, as after getting 13-0'd by modeame on Mirage, modeame's Asker "Blessed" Khan received a FACEIT ban for cheating, resulting in a forfeit.
In the semifinals, Iberian Soul came back from losing Mirage with a victory yon Inferno and a dominant win on Ancient. Finally in the grand finals, phzy and Iberian Soul beat former Major winner Dzhami "Jame" Ali and PARIVISION to claim the event trophy. All three grand finals maps went to 24 rounds, with PARIVISION claiming Inferno before Iberian Soul clutched out wins on Mirage and Ancient.

As Iberian Soul have already announced that Owen "smooya" Butterfield will stand-in for the ESL Pro League EU qualifier, it appears that phzy's time there will be short-lived, though no doubt successful.
