CS2 skins reach new market cap of $5.1 billion
The market for CS2 skins has reached an all-time high this week, July 1st. After a big dip in May, the skin market rebounded and reached $5.1 billion, according to PriceEmpire, a platform that offers real-time price tracking of skins.
As per PriceEmpire's post on July 1st, the skin market is up 5.07% in the past 30 days and is 16.72% up in the past three months, despite the huge dip in May.
But, as first reported by The CS Times, this new all-time high doesn't mean that the most popular skins available in CS2 are selling for a higher price.
The peak for skins such as the Karambit | Doppler Phase 2 (Factory New) and Butterfly Knife | Fade (Factory New) happened in May, according to graphs by EsportFire.
And, skins are as popular as ever. In these past few days, for example, Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag spent over $40,000 opening CS2 cases, garnering well over 500,000 views only on YouTube.
