BLAST is venturing to Mongolia in 2027

BLAST announces Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as host city of BLAST Open 2027 S2

This will be the first Mongolian tier-one CS event.

BLAST has released details of its second Open event of 2027, which will take place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This will be a historic event for Mongolian CS, as BLAST Open 2027 Season 2 is slated to be the first tier-one event ever in the Asian country.

Taking place two months after BLAST Open Singapore 2027, the Ulaanbaatar tournament runs from May 10th to May 23rd, 2027, and will feature 16 teams competing for a $1.25 million prize pool.

Eleven teams will be invited using the Global VRS filter, while five will earn berths to the tournament via qualifiers. Two teams will qualify for the tournament from Asia, while Europe, North America, and South America will have one team each emerge from qualifiers.

BLAST has also announced a new "Acceptance Fee" incentive for teams that attend its events, based on VRS rankings. For BLAST's Open events in 2027, this is how the Acceptance Fees are divvied out:

The BLAST Open Ulaabaatar announcement comes amid uncertain times for Mongolia's premier CS team, The MongolZ, as the squad benched Anarbileg "cobrazera" Uuganbayar, while Ayush "mzinho" Batbold has moved to BC.Game, joining former MongolZ teammate Azbayar "⁠Senzu⁠" Munkhbold.
