North America returns to a Major final

Cloud9 strike down SK, to Grand Final

Cloud9 is the second ever North American team to make the grand final of a Major.

The final semifinal and match of the day between Cloud9 and SK was set to be decided on Mirage, Cobblestone, and Inferno. Cloud9 and Will "RUSH" Wierzba got off to a quick start, quickly racking up a lead of six rounds. Marcelo "coldzera" David picked up a triple kill to put SK on the board. The next round was extremely back and forth, but Timothy "autimatic" Ta won the 1v1 and took three frags to reset the Brazilian side.

RUSH kept up the fast pace, and Cloud9 completely dominated the rest of their Terrorist half. autimatic pulled of many multi-kills from the connector position, and secures his team's position in the game, finishing the half 13-2.

SK almost pulled the pistol round back from a 2v4 deficit, but autimatic prevailed in the 1v1 due to the round time. Cloud9 were denied victory for a small time at least as SK took the force buy. SK was unable to establish any economy or hope of a comeback as Cloud9 took the last two rounds to win Mirage 16-3.

Much like Cloud9 did on Mirage, SK got off to a big lead from the T side on Cobblestone. With Fernando "fer" Alvarenga, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, and coldzera all contributing, the Brazilian team acquired up a 7-0 lead. Cloud9 finally answered back in round eight, and with every C9 member pulling their weight they themselves won seven rounds in a row to tie up the game. SK finally responded with the last round to make the score 8-7 at the half.

The fourth pistol round of the match went to SK and FalleN led his team to three more after. Cloud9 couldn't get much going on their Terrorist side, as fer's aggression pushed SK closer to match point despite Jake "Stewie2K" Yip's immense efforts. The final round of the game was extremely back and forth, but after Epitacio "TACO" de Melo and Stewie2K trading triple kills, fer won the 1v1 and secured Cobblestone 16-8.

The deciding map Inferno kicked off with another Cloud9 victory, featuring a knife kill by autimatic onto TACO. A big hold from RUSH helped C9 to avoid getting reset, and Tarik "tarik" Celik put his team on three with a quadruple kill. The first gun round ended with an insane 1 on 2 clutch by TACO and a total of four kills in the round.

The Americans pulled out a miracle in the following round, as a 1 AWP, 4 USP setup and a collateral by Stewie2K led to an eco victory. Something clicked in the Cloud9 camp, as tarik and Stewie took turns picking up multi-kills, leading their team to a large 7-3 lead. SK couldn't break the Cloud9 defense, and the half then finished 3-12 for the Americans.

SK took their third pistol round in the series, but couldn't take the second afterwards. This didn't phase the Brazilians though, as they began the comeback. fer finally got rolling and powered SK to seven rounds, but a big B site post plant by autimatic and Stewie stopped the streak and put Cloud9 onto 14. Skadoodle helps to secure match point for Cloud9, but SK weren't out just yet. SK was unable to stop the inevitable in the end, as autimatic picked up a triple with the AWP to secure Cloud9's spot in the final.
