stanislaw credits vinS for JBa Deagle 4K: "Maybe he had a feeling JBa could make some magic happen"
Wildcard won their second match at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Stage 1 after surviving a rollercoaster of emotions against Lynn Vision in the 1-0 pool game. This was somewhat surprising, given that Wildcard stomped Metizport 13-1 in the first round.
Dust2.us' Editor-in-Chief interviewed Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz after the Lynn Vision nailbiter, and asked the veteran captain about his thoughts on that Nuke game, what he thought of Joshua "JBa" Barutt's miraculous 4K with just a Deagle in a crucial round of regulation, and his expectations for playing best-of-threes for the remainder of Wildcard's campaign in Stage 1.
The full interview can be found below on YouTube or in text form below. All questions and answers below have been slightly edited for length and clarity.

Did you guys expect to have such a close match against Lynn Vision after such a strong win over Metizport?
No, I feel like I underestimated Lynn Vision a little bit. We're very confident in our Nuke, and the game started off very well for us. But the way they were playing outside, specifically on their T-side, was really aggressive, really unique. Something I think we haven't experienced before. So, it's good that they exposed a few of our weaknesses. Now we can work on that, and I'm proud of the way they played.
And it was a real rally for the team to come back multiple times and required heroics from multiple players, especially in regulation. JBa, specifically, got a Deagle 4K in a key moment to save you guys. What was your reaction to that incredible moment from the young star?
It was a call by our coach vinS to put JBa in Heaven with the Deagle. Maybe he had a feeling that JBa could make some magic happen. I didn't personally see it, but I could hear the shots, and they were all One Deags as far as I know, so it's going to be a nice little highlight clip for him.
We heard on the desk that C4LLM3SU3 gave you a skin that you were using in the match, or the other way around, if I'm not mistaken. Before he went back to China, you were his IGL on Wildcard, so you guys have a special relationship, it seems. Can you tell me more about it?
Yeah, when we were [playing together] way back in the first iteration of Wildcard. He was like a trial stand-in for us, and then he had some personal issues going on, and he had to go back to China. But, he had a lot of potential, and I had a lot of fun playing with him. He's a really nice young kid. He's really funny, and now he's on a really, really good team, so I hope he takes a chance. He definitely has the potential, he's a really good kid, and I'm happy for him.
You're one win away from making Stage 2. We heard from Sonic in an earlier interview today that he felt like Wildcard should have started in Stage 2. Do you feel the same way that Stage 1 hasn't given you a serious challenge yet?
Stage 1 isn't over, so we'll see tomorrow. I think there are a few good teams in this stage that definitely give us a challenge. Lynn Vision was one of them. I believe we'll play B8, and B8 is going to be a challenge as well. You have teams like HEROIC, Complexity, and Stage 1 is pretty stacked, and it's only going to get harder.
Heading into the best-of-threes tomorrow, it's been a while since you've played a BO3 on LAN. How are you feeling about the team's readiness to jump from BO1s to BO3s?
We're ready. I prefer best-of-threes to be honest, BO1s are extremely random. I don't like MR12, and the economy. So, BO3s give you your best chance.
The last thing I want to say is Save Gaza, and I'm done.
