Spinx: "Instead of one superstar we have five good players"
Only one team has yet to drop a single map during their IEM Dallas run, and it's not Vitality, but rather a team featuring one of their long-time pillars.
MOUZ and Lotan "Spinx" Giladi are currently 6-0 in maps played in Dallas, capped off with an impressive 2-0 against the star-studded Falcons roster. MOUZ now await the winner of Aurora v. The MongolZ in the semifinal, in what's the last big event before the start of the Major.
Spinx spoke to Dust2.us' Editor-In-Chief Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore ahead of MOUZ's semifinal about the team's form and structure, but also about his close finishes in the United States.
The full interview can be found below on YouTube, with key snippets underneath. All questions and answers below have been slightly edited for length and clarity.
How do you feel about the team’s run in Dallas so far?
We are in good shape at the moment. We want to prove that we can beat any top team. We beat Falcons once, and we’re looking forward to more of these kinds of matches in the arena.
The result against Falcons is really impressive, especially against a team looking to challenge the likes of Vitality and Spirit. Both Falcons and Vitality have elite pairings: do you think MOUZ has an elite pairing that can challenge that firepower, or does it come down to how you guys play the game [as a team]?
We don’t have a superstar like any of the teams you mention. We don’t have a m0NESY, donk, or ZywOo, who are the best players in the world. For us, instead of one superstar player we have five good players, and all of us can step up at any moment. We’re just more focused on how to play as a team. Of course we want to be good as individuals, but we’re not just relying on that.
You’ll be facing the winner of MongolZ vs. Aurora. Are you perhaps already looking ahead to the final?
For the moment we’re not focused at all on the grand final, or whoever will be there. For us it’s just [on] the semifinal. Yes, we are the favorites whether we play the MongolZ or Aurora, but still we need to be sharp, focused, and 100% in it. Both of these teams are good teams and both of them can beat us.
What would it mean for you to face Vitality in the final after the dramatic loss to G2 and Stewie2K last year?
For me in the U.S., I’ve had two tournaments so far, and both I lost in the grand final. So I prefer to either lose in the semi or win the final, and if I lose in the finals I hope someone on my team will get me an ice cream for the third time.
