USEA trademark abandoned leaving $350,000 league dead and buried

Back in December 2024, Dust2.us reported on the bleak future of the United States Esports Affiliation (USEA), a $350,000 event created by CEO Ben Williamson that had briefly captured the imaginations of the NA scene before disappearing without a trace. Despite extensive efforts to contact Williamson or anyone from USEA about the fate of the league, Dust2.us was unable to get a hold of anyone, leading many to assume the league was dead and buried.

At the time of publishing our original story, the only recent update about the league was that the USEA's trademark was in serious jeopardy due to a number of issues, with the nascent TO having three months to resolve them or abandon the trademark.

With that date coming and going on February 28th, 2025 with no activity from the USEA or their lawyers, it appears that the trademark has been abandoned. Dust2.us made one final attempt to contact Williamson and the law office listed on their patent, however neither party responded to us ahead of publication.

So where does this leave us? At this point it is hard to say with any certainty what happened to the USEA, however with Williamson's other ventures still ticking along it's hard to ignore the nagging feeling that the USEA was never a serious venture of Williamson and co. to begin with.

Based on his own website, Williamson seemingly has a track record of throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks, with Sensiva Health and Cormeum Lab Services being real businesses, while "Vita Practice Works" and "Pinewood Product Development & Distribution" being little more than trademark applications and a .png on his website.

As for Anything Goes, all that remains is a shuttered website while "The Box Naples Premium Car Storage" boasts a couple of flashy renders and a full voicemail box.

While we are unlikely to truly ever know what happened to the USEA, the best case scenario is that Williamson really did intend to run a league but it failed to attract investors, leading to him pulling the plug, while a less generous reading is that an attempted rug pull was thwarted by the community asking too many questions, with this vigilance turning the parties off of the scheme.
