Party Astronauts add cynic as long-term replacement for viz

cynic made the jump as he as wanted to join a team that matches his competitive aspirations.

David "cynic" Polster has left Triumph to join Party Astronauts as a long-term replacement for Wesley "viz" Harris. The change comes after Party Astronauts announced that viz would be going on indefinite leave from the team due to family circumstances requiring him to take a break from esports.

cynic's decision to leave Triumph comes as something of a surprise as the team recently won ESEA Summer 2021 Cash Cup 6 over RBG, with Triumph claiming its first event win in nearly ten months. This victory was in part due to recent changes in the lineup, with Tyler "tweiss" Weiss and Omar "3ARK00Z" Elyyan making way for Jeorge "jeorgesnorts" Endicott and Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk.

Despite this recent success, cynic told Dust2.us that he decided to leave Triumph for a number of factors "but the main reason was a clear difference in goals between [himself] and the rest of the team". In particular cynic noted that he "was putting in a lot of hours to try and improve myself and the team, but it wasn't being reciprocated".

Regarding the decision to bring in a high-profile replacement for viz, Party Astronaut's coach, Joseph "Muenster" Lima, told Dust2.us that the team is moving forward with the assumption that viz will be unable to play for a long time and thus have to plan their future without him in the lineup.

Despite having experience as an IGL on multiple lineups, cynic noted that Ben "ben1337" Smith will continue as the team's IGL, while cynic will return to his original roles on Triumph — rifler and secondary AWP.

Party Astronauts are now:

  • United States Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue
  • United States Ben "ben1337" Smith
  • Canada Jonathan "djay" Dallal
  • United States Gage "Infinite" Green
  • United States David "cynic" Polster
  • United States Joseph "Muenster" Lima (Coach)
  • United States Wesley "viz" Harris (Inactive)

Party Astronauts will make its debut with cynic against Big Chillin on August 31st while Triumph will be on the lookout for cynic's replacement before they face off against Coldest Riding also on August 31st.
