FaNg's time with NRG has come to an end

NRG cut FaNg after poor start to year

More changes come to NRG as the organization looks to change course after a poor start to 2024.

NRG has announced the departure of Justin "FaNg" Coakley from their roster. The Canadian becomes the second player to leave the team in as many days following NRG's recent string of failures—the most high-profile of which was their 0-2 exit from the PGL Copenhagen Major Americas RMR. FaNg's departure from NRG comes after Damian "daps" Steele decided to switch to a coaching role within the team while Colby "Walco" Walsh was called up from Party Astronauts to replace him.

FaNg's exit from NRG comes after a mixed period for the player since returning to activity following five months on Complexity's bench. While FaNg showed flashes of his peak form from the Extra Salt days, he noticeably struggled to find his footing under daps' leadership in key matches against higher-ranked NA squads like Elevate, Wildcard, and Party Astronauts.

NRG are now:

  • United States Josh "oSee" Ohm

  • United States Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte

  • Canada Jadan "HexT" Postma

  • Canada Colby "Walco" Walsh

  • Canada Damian "daps" Steele (Coach)

NRG will need to find a new fifth before they kick off their ESL Challenger League Season 47 campaign, which was previously put on hold for Americas RMR.

Curious to see who they pick up. No doubt they needed changes but i'm hoping they can get someone good.

Feel like they should've just let the roster play a bit with Walco as the igl instead of dropping FaNg who was obviously going through a rough time individually after not playing officials for a while and instantly being thrown into a NRG roster that was supposed to be a top NA team instantly supposedly when in reality teams like M80 and Wildcard have been grinding for a while and are much better than people realized.
