FlyQuest RED complete ESL Impact Cash Cup three-peat
It's the third ESL Impact Cash Cup win in a row for FlyQuest RED as, once again, they defeated Shimmer in the grand final to claim the $750. The orgless squad can't overcome the last hurdle, which is FlyQuest RED, despite coming close at times.
This is also the third ESL Impact Cash Cup in a row with eight or more teams, which has not happened since April 2023. This is a good sign as teams are now showing up consistently, with some mixes appearing, which can eventually lead to other teams forming.
FlyQuest RED started their campaign against a mix team with a 13-1 win, which was followed by a 2-1 win over Nouns fe, after they beat cleanup crew 13-4, making Nouns fe the first Impact team to get a map off RED since ESL Impact Season 4 LAN Finals.
On the other side of the bracket, Shimmer overcame TeamNA, another mix team, 13-3, and met Radiant Rebels in the semifinal, after the former had beaten Limitless Angels 13-5. The semifinal went smoothly for Shimmer with 13-1, 13-5 wins.
The grand final started with a 13-4 win for FlyQuest RED on Mirage where Vivienne "BiBiAhn" Quach and Emma "Emy" Choe combined for 37 kills. The second map was Anubis and it was much closer, with RED taking a 13-10 victory, despite Abigail "abby" Deters and Lynn "Lx" Clarke combining for 40 kills.
