skullz has been adapting well to tier one, so far

What to expect from Liquid v. G2

It's do or... not die for both teams.

After a loss against FaZe where it felt like both teams had an equal chance to win the series, Liquid find themselves fighting for one of the last direct tickets to the BLAST Premier Spring Final as they play against a G2 squad who has only lost to NAVI during this event.

The new-look Liquid is already putting up incredible fights against the top teams in the world, despite still showing signs of inconsistency. Their struggles against Spirit and in rounds against GamerLegion and FaZe show the team still trying to put all working parts together.

Liquid turning solid

It would be disingenuous not to say that, individually, Liquid is full of top 20 players, except for Felipe "skullz" Medeiros. The young Brazilian has only had one month of tier-one Counter-Strike, but the history of sports has shown that a team is more than just the sum of all its parts. This is where Liquid is still lacking at this point despite the overall positive direction. It's the first LAN event and while teamplay is not quite on point, it is getting there.

  • skullz continues to be a solid supporting cast member

  • cadiaN's calling and fragging is key to victory

  • NAF's rare off-game is already behind the team

  • YEKINDAR needs to find more impact when the team is lacking

G-only-2-opponents

Liquid is only the third different opponent G2 will face in BLAST Premier Spring Groups after the European squad met NAVI and NIP twice in four matches. The last match against NAVI saw a very disheartened G2 get crushed, which can be a bad sign if the team is coming to this final match hungry for revenge.

  • nexa can be hot-and-cold, but does that matter?

  • Like NAF, NiKo has the rare off-day, and it also was yesterday

  • How much more can m0NESY do to drag G2 ahead?

  • Battle of the callers, can HooXi out-IGL cadiaN?

Likely Vetoes

  • Liquid ban Vertigo (least played map)

  • G2 ban Overpass (most banned map)

  • Liquid pick Mirage (G2's worst win rate)

  • G2 pick Inferno (usual first pick when available)

  • Anubis is the decider (liked by both)
