Four spots left in the Americas RMR NA Closed Qualifier

Who's got next?

After Liquid, NRG, vagrants, and my life be like qualified just last night, the spots in the next stage of the Major journey have been cut in half, and only four more North American teams have the chance to continue fighting for a spot in the first CS2 Major.

There are plenty of big names left fighting, but there have been some teams that have caught the eye of fans after putting up solid runs during the first Open Qualifier, such as WICKED, and MagicLight.

The Favorites

Naturally, the teams that reached the qualification Bo3 but couldn't win it have to be mentioned here. LOS, the Brazilian squad, had a solid run, meeting a couple of mix teams, actually struggling to beat Limitless 13-9, and getting a freebie after Bloons Tower Defense 6 forfeited in the round of 16. Unfortunately for LOS, they met the heavy favorites Liquid in the Bo3 and couldn't get through them. Today, without either Liquid or NRG, it is expected to see the team grab a spot in the CQ.

Datejust are always on the brink of success, almost qualifying for ECL twice, and now almost qualifying for the Closed Qualifier, only losing, surprisingly, 2-0 against the mix team of my life be like. Today is the last chance Datejust have to prove themselves, can they handle the pressure? MagicLight had an amazing run, not losing more than 2 rounds per game until the qualification series against NRG, and now, without NRG in their way, they can take one of the four spots.

WICKED is the lowest-rated team from the bunch, only based on the scores of their games. The team had two close games before the Bo3 but always prevailed and moved on until they met vagrants and couldn't get much going during the two maps they played.

The big favorites have flown a bit under the radar due to seeding reasons. FLUFFY AIMERS didn't get much of a chance during the #1 OQ as the team faced Liquid in their first round. Today, we expect to see FA fighting for a spot in the Closed Qualifier

Very possible, but...

Everyone would like to see gamin4fun, Owen "oBo" Schlatter's team, reach the Closed Qualifier, but let's face it, it's hard to do so when facing teams that have practiced for some time together. In the same line, we have RUNnGUN, the French-Canadian squad that only formed some days ago and couldn't get past The Necromancers.

Alongside these two teams, we have MIGHT, Mythic, Limitless, and Take Flyte. All four had a lackluster first qualifier, but we should see them bouncing back today and looking to grab a place at the big boys' table.

Rocket are also included here but, apparently the team couldn't play the Closed Qualifier due to using a player who won't be available during that event. It remains to be seen if the team will try to find a new player who's able to play the CQ, but if not, it's certain they won't reach it, although Rocket have the skill to do so.

Honorable Mentions

There are teams that have been looking good in their leagues and other events, but it seems like they still have some catching up to do in relation to the previously mentioned squads. Maybe if these sides keep a steady improvement, we might see them clearly fighting for a Closed Qualifier spot during the second Major cycle of the year. The teams in this section are Detonate, Tempest, Spectre, and LAG.

The second Americas RMR North American Open Qualifier starts today at 09:00PM and, at the time of publication, 195 teams are already registered. Dust2.us will be streaming the games live on Twitch, so make sure you join us when the games start to keep updated with the results of the qualifier.
