COMPLEXITY MAKE IEM SYDNEY GRAND FINALS

It's a 2-0 against G2 in the rematch!

The unthinkable has happened. Complexity is one step away from taking it all. The last time a North American team was in the finals of an S-tier tournament was Liquid at BLAST World Finals last year. The last time a team not named Liquid did it was Evil Geniuses at StarSeries i-League Season 8 all the way back in 2019. And now, we can add this Complexity to the list.

The match vetoes played out exactly as the previous G2-Complexity matchup earlier in IEM Sydney, with Anubis first followed by Ancient second and Vertigo if necessary. G2's firepower proved overpowering in their T-side pistol on Anubis, taking the first and second rounds of the game. Complexity answered back with one of their own. This would be the last time G2 led a map. Complexity pulled two more to their advantage and ended up trading rounds back and forth to finish their CT-side with a respectable 7 rounds. Remarkable about Complexity's performance was their handle on the economy, not needing to take an eco until the eleventh round, and Ricky "floppy" Kemery's dominance in holding the A bombsite shut.

Complexity, despite losing two players early on, won the T-side pistol and swiftly dispatched of G2's forcebuy in the next, setting them up for success. G2 did break Complexity's economy, but only after the NA squad had racked up 11 rounds total. G2 did stop Complexity three times total, but some absolutely phenomenal deagle work from IGL Johnny "JT" Theodosiou put the team up on 12 with the following round closing out a fairly dominant affair from the NA team.

While Anubis has been Complexity's bread and butter as of late, Ancient was a bit of a sore spot, being counter-picked into the map often. G2 had gotten better of the team the two previous matchups, 16-4 at EPL and 13-7 earlier this very tournament. However, this game went very differently. Complexity won a hard-fought pistol round and never let go. North America picked up the second, and the third, and the fourth, and the fifth, and the six.

G2 eventually won a single round, but it wasn't enough to break Complexity's money. Col took two off the back, and finally G2 managed to break the economy, but not before Complexity racked up an eye-watering eight rounds, more than either of their two games in just one half. Complexity won the half 9-3. Complexity then fairly simply won the T-side pistol and won the rest of the game with little fuss-about. 13-4, just like that. 2-0, just like that. Complexity in the grand finals, just like that.
