Orgless and Yeah through to Americas Minor NA Closed Qualifier
The second day of the fourth and final qualifier ESL One Rio has come to an end, seeing Pujan "FNS" Mehta's Orgless and Brazilian side Yeah advance to the Americas Minor NA Closed Qualifier in early March.
The Canadian side blew past Big Frames with relative ease, sweeping them 2-0. Map one was Nuke, which saw Big Frames grab the first pistol and ensuing rounds, but that was all but it. Orgless finished the first half comfortably up 11-4 and then took their time to close out a 16-10 map win on their T-side. Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik led the way for the victors with 26 kills, while Andy "devastation" Parr's server-leading 27 kills were in vain.
Things were a bit more interesting on Inferno, as Big Frames took a slight 8-7 lead into the switch, but then Orgless went on a five round tear to surge ahead. Big Frames managed a few consecutive gun rounds to bring the score within one at 12-11, but from that point on Orgless didn't drop a round, winning the map 16-11. This time Jacob "yay" Whiteaker pitched in 22 frags to match another 22 from Subroza. No player on Big Frames finished with a positive KD.

The second best-of-three was more evenly matched, as Recon 5 and Yeah went the distance, stealing one another's map picks. In the end, Yeah would trade maps back and forth to prevail over the Americans.
Recon 5 chose to play Inferno, though you wouldn't know it from how everything played out in the server. All five Yeah players had a higher rating than Recon 5's best rated player and Victor "iDk" Torraca went off for 34 kills in regulation while not a single player on Recon 5 had a positive K-D. In spite of that, Yeah only managed to win 16-13, a much closer game than the statistics would have led you to believe.
Yeah had the comfort of going into their pick of Train with a 1-0 series lead, and made up for a 2-7 start on Train to rebound and trail 7-8 at the break. In the second half, the series seemed set for a swift end after a successful force-buy from Yeah in round sixteen allowed them up to a 14-9 scoreline. On the brink of defeat, Recon 5 rallied, fighting back with seven straight of their own, not only managing to get the map back, but winning it in regulation to force a third contest.
Dust2 would be the site of the decider, with Recon 5 winning the knife to take CT-side first. Things seemed to be going the way of the American squad early on as a pistol round and subsequent conversion helped them on their way to a 3-1 start, but then the game took a turn. Through consistent aggression that left Recon 5 powerless, Yeah took seven rounds in a row for the second time this series, powering a dominant 11-4 offensive half.
Things were desperate for Recon 5 in the second half and it showed. They mananged one round before Yeah reached map and series point, with the game ending 16-5 after a quick trade frag brought an end to a near comical game of hide-and-seek around Pit.

These sixteen teams will square off in a best-of-three, double-elimination bracket from March 6-8, with the top six sides earning spots at the ESL One Rio Americas Minor in Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, a number of the same teams are set to make appearances in the FLASHPOINT Closed Qualifier, kicking off at 7 PM EST.
