Valve adds Overpass and Vertigo to CS2

All active duty maps but Inferno, Ancient, and Anubis have been added to the new Source engine.

Earlier today, Valve announced that Overpass and Vertigo have been added to Counter-Strike 2, with those lucky enough to have limited test access able to play them both immediately.

Both have casual and deathmatch modes, while players can try Overpass in competitive, as well as through the 2v2 wingman game mode. This is the first map with the wingman game mode available in CS2, despite Nuke and Vertigo also having wingman maps in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

In addition, Overpass is the first fully overhauled map added to CS2. Mirage, Dust2, and Nuke were either "touchstone" or "upgrade maps", where relatively few textures were changed ahead of the new game, just mostly lighting and new materials. Overpass, on the other hand, has been fully rebuilt from the ground up, using the new Source 2 tools and rendering features.

As such, Vertigo appears relatively similar to its CS:GO counterpart other than lighting improvements and general clarity upgrades. Overpass, as the first fully rebuilt map, has entirely new textures and assets littering the map, giving the map it's first big update since 2015.

This leaves only Inferno, Ancient, and Anubis without a limited beta port, the two newest additions and one of CS:GO's most storied maps.
