Complexity false start against Vitality
Complexity were hoping to continue their strong performance at BLAST Premier Fall Groups in the matchup against 2023 BLAST.tv Paris Major winners Vitality. A successful 2-1 victory against NIP set up Complexity for success, but their biggest test would come this morning with the French organization looking unbeatable.
Complexity chose to play on Inferno against Vitality, a choice they quickly regretted. Without trying to overanalyze the situation too much, the first half was disastrous and Complexity escaped a 15-0 by winning the last round of the first half. Complexity would lose the map 16-1 and hope to put it behind them.
The second map would see Vitality looking to close it out on their pick of Vertigo. Again, while it would be nice to try and sugar-coat what transpired, it would be intentionally misleading. The Americans failed to get into the game at the beginning and would once again fall early and fall hard.
Despite a short attempt to a comeback from Complexity towards the end of the map while down 16-3, Vitality were able to stop it dead in its tracks with just pistols and claim the map 16-6.
Losing the series 0-2, Complexity's win versus NIP may now seem potentially like a fluke, however, Vitality are a much stronger opponent than NIP and this loss does not spell disaster for the American squad.
Complexity will be sent to the lower bracket where they will play the winner of Evil Geniuses versus Ninjas in Pyjamas. The match is scheduled for Tuesday at 09:00AM, with the loser falling to the first round of the play-in stage and the winner moving to the group final.
