A busy offseason shakes up Dust2.us’ July 2023 rankings

All but one of the ten teams saw a move during the break.

To provide a transparent summary of the ranking process, here is a breakdown of the Dust2 Ranking process:

Our team rankings are chosen based on a series of measurements where each team is allocated points dependent on where they rank compared to their peers. This point-based system puts all domestic and international results, HLTV ranking, the tier of play, and coaches polling into consideration. While we include the HLTV rankings to some degree, more weight is given to the select number of coaches within the scene that are ranking the teams due to their accurate ability in judging play outside of the regional matches.

#1 Brazil FURIA (arT, yuurih, KSCERATO, FalleN, chelo) (+1)

FURIA didn’t make an appearance in the server last month, but the departure of Liquid and the theoretical roster improvements with the addition of Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes was enough to earn them the top spot.

July Events: IEM Cologne Play-In

#2 United States Complexity (JT, floppy, Grim, hallzerk, EliGE) (+2)

Complexity made a splash in the off-season with the acquisition of Jonathan “EliGE”‘Jablanowski, filling the need for another star player in a big way. Entering the next event cycle, Complexity look ready to take big strides as a team and challenge for the top spot in the region.

July Events: BLAST Premier Fall Groups, IEM Cologne Play-In

#3 Brazil paiN (biguzera, skullz, zevy) (-)

Although paiN are officially at three players, reports are giving indication of what the newest iteration of the lineup will be.

July Events: None

#4 Brazil MIBR (exit, brnz4n, insani, saffee, drop) (+1)

MIBR made the most of the off-season by acquiring the departed FURIA duo just about a week ago. After a successful first half of the year with their core, MIBR looks to advance in the ranks with the new pair.

July Events: None

#5 United States Evil Geniuses (autimatic, Walco, junior, Jeorge, HexTi) (+4)

The rumors and reports were all over the place for EG, but the organization ultimately went with promoting the bulk of their EG Black lineup. Time will tell what the lineup can achieve, regardless, their retention of an NA lineup is a pleasant sight.

July Events: BLAST Premier Fall Groups

#6 Brazil Imperial (boltz, VINI, JOTA) (-)

After losing their duo, Imperial are working hard to round out their roster without skipping a beat in the server. With reports pointing toward the organization having their five, we will soon see what they can do without the poster child of “The Last Dance”, FalleN.

July Events: IEM Cologne Play-In

#7 United States Nouns (bwills, nosraC, cJ, MarKE, stamina) (-)

Nouns completed their brief search for a fifth, landing on Bobby “stamina” Eitrem once again for his in-game leading services. With a finalized roster and a new mental coach, Nouns look ready to take bigger strides toward the top of the region.

July Events: None

#8 United States ex-ATK (MisteM, Swisher, reck, Jonji) (+2)

Despite being down an AWPer and an org, the former ATK core is one of the strongest in the region and their results make a good argument for being the best unsigned lineup in the region.

July Events: None

#9 Brazil 00 NATION (coldzera, dumau, latto, nqz) (-1)

00 NATION has been perhaps the quietest of the BR shuffle, but is still in the news cycle with their eyes on a benched paiN member. With the lineup making moves of their own, they’ll look to get from under the rest of the Brazilian teams in the ranking.

July Events: None

#10 9z (max, dgt, dav1deus, try, buda) (+3)

9z was the only team on the list to not experience some form of shake up and was also one of the more active teams as well with a Cash Cup win and a fourth-place showing at ESL Challenger Katowice.

July Events: FiReLEAGUE Battle
