MIBR defeat eUnited to complete ECS Season 8 Finals team list
MIBR have secured the final spot at the ECS Season 8 LAN finals in Arlington, Texas following a 2-1 victory over eUnited in the grand finals of Week 5.
eUnited kicked off their own pick of Overpass on the T-side, evenly splitting the first six rounds with MIBR for the two teams to remain deadlocked at 3-3. A five-round spree from eUnited gave them a dominant lead in the half, and although MIBR were able to claw back three of their own, it was eUnited who led 9-6.
Another pistol win for Anthony "vanity" Malaspina and company allowed them to further extend their lead to 12-6. The Brazilians began a comeback effort as they won five of the next six rounds to narrow the deficit to 13-11, but a final trio for eUnited had the American side taking the map over the line at 16-11.
Although eUnited won their third pistol to take initial control on Train, MIBR quickly fought back for five rounds of their own, with Epitacio "TACO" de Melo picking up an ace along the way. The lead for MIBR did not last long however, as their sixth round only came at the end of the half to cap off a spree of eight from eUnited.
The swap to the CT-side on Train was where MIBR shined, the AWPs of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Vito "kNgV-" Guiseppe helping to eviscerate eUnited round after round to lock them out of bombsites, leading to a 16-11 win for MIBR.
A similar scenario unfolded on Inferno, where eUnited managed just one round out of the opening eleven as MIBR's AWPs once again powered them to an 11-4 half lead. A pistol round win following the side swap had the Brazilians swiftly move their way up to 14-4, with eUnited adding only two to their tally before MIBR took the map over the line 16-6.
