Liquid's win was a win for the whole region as they secured the Legends spot for Copenhagen 2024

Americas region retains Legends spot

Liquid's win means the region will keep the Legends spot for the next Major cycle.

After a torrid start to the Major that included losses to Apeks and FORZE, Liquid was an unlikely candidate to reach the Legends stage, let alone make playoffs. However, in a complete reversal of fortunes the team beat Fluxo, Complexity, and Grayhound to complete the reverse sweep.

That run was continued in the Legends stage as the team dominated 9INE and NAVI to find themselves in the 2-0 pool. A close loss against Heroic, arguably the best team in the world currently, didn't shake the team as they beat out British underdog side, Into the Breach to become the first NA side to qualify for Major playoffs since 2019.

With the team making playoffs it means that they have also secured a Legends spot for the Americas region in the next Major cycle. Previously, it had been FURIA who had been keeping the spot alive, with the Brazilians making a Semi-Final run at IEM Rio. However, the team fell to a disappointing 0-3 record in Paris leaving Liquid with the task, which they completed with a 2-0 win over the Brits.

Liquid is set to continue their BLAST Paris Major run in the Quarter-Finals kicking off on Thursday in the Accor Arena.
