Another great day from paiN has them eyeing Legends

BLAST Paris Major Challengers Stage day two recap

Americas teams were pitted against each other in the day two competition.

The second day of Challengers Stage games was one of intense rivalry as familiar Americas foes faced off in the 1-1 and 0-2 brackets.

Complexity and paiN started the day for Americas fans with a BO1 battle on Nuke. It looked good for Complexity for the first round and about only the first round, as paiN headlined the first half with a massive round win streak of nine on the CT-side to go up massively. With Complexity able to get a couple of shots in-between the dominance, they were able to mount a trio of rounds before being faced with a massive 3-12 comeback in the second half, something that would prove too much for them.

paiN secured the pistol in the second half, setting them up nicely for a clean win on Nuke. Complexity in the final moments was able to win one round back. However, the sole round win proved feeble compared to the offensive prowess of paiN, as they strung three more rounds in a row to take the map with ease, 16-4. The win takes paiN into advancement territory, where they'll be allotted two chances to qualify for the Legends Stage.

As for Complexity, the loss to paiN puts them down in the 1-2 side of the bracket, where they'll be playing in BO3s for the wrong reasons. With the team facing elimination, they'll have to compete against big brother Liquid after their win against Fluxo.

As mentioned, Liquid will face off against Complexity tomorrow after their Tuesday BO3 win over Fluxo. Liquid came back after losing Nuke 11-16, with wins on Inferno and Ancient, 16-14 and 16-13, respectively. Although they did secure their first win, Liquid is not close to the form we have come to expect from them.

Despite Complexity also not looking in top shape, now is perhaps the best time for the perceived number-two team in NA to leap a big way by eliminating Liquid from the Major. For Liquid, tomorrow's game is an opportunity to get back to form and get one step closer to Legends.
