Not a memorable event in Melbourne for Complexity

Complexity fall in Melbourne

The Americans will not advance.

Complexity and ECSTATIC once again matched up in the group play, after fellow North American side Evil Geniuses was eliminated by the Danes earlier in the day. Complexity were hoping to once again repeat their success over the Danes that they had on the first day, but today proved that it would be a bit more difficult than before.

The match got started on ECSTATIC's pick of Anubis, where the Americans started off hot, but were unable to hold their advantage for so long. The squad would win the opening pistol and take a 7-3, but the Danes would come roaring back to make it 7-8. In the second half, despite Complexity once again winning the second pistol, the Danes would take an 11-9 lead. While Complexity would turn the tide to make it 12-11, they could not hold onto the lead as ECSTATIC won their map pick 16-12.

With Overpass on the way, it was looking like it was time for Complexity to take control of the match, which they did with thundering effect. A T-side that produced 12 rounds was simply unstoppable as the Americans could not be held back in their bombastic offensive play. Even when switching sides, the squad would not relent as they cruised to a 16-5 map win.

Ancient as the decider got off to a promising start, but quickly went the completely other way. Complexity would win six rounds in a row on their CT-side, looking like they were cruising to a dominant half to set them up for a crisp 2-1 victory, but it quickly went awry. Several lost man advantages, including a 1v4 and a 2v5 spelled disaster as the squad would fail to win the half, falling down to a 9-6 deficit. The second half saw Complexity claw their way back to the game, managing to send it to overtime after winning six rounds in a row with ECSTATIC on series point.

The first overtime was full of clutches from both sides with the North American side winning a 2v3 situation to stay alive in Melbourne. The second overtime saw a couple of hot clutches from Johhny "JT" Theodosiou, but ECSTATIC managed to tie the game once again. The third overtime started with the Danes taking all three rounds on the CT-side and a messy round afterward would send Complexity packing with a 25-21 loss on Ancient.
