FaNg will hopefully be all smiles after the RMR

FaNg: "Having that opportunity to get here and not be jetlagged feels nice"

There are no more excuses for Complexity heading into the opening day of the RMR.

Complexity has had a rough time thus far this season. A phenomenal performance at IEM Katowice was followed by a string of underwhelming performances at ESL Pro League and BLAST Spring Showdown. Ryan Friend of Dust2.us had a chance to chat with Justin "FaNg" Coakley ahead of their opening game against Solid later today. In their chat, FaNg spoke honestly about how there are no more excuses for Complexity at this RMR and that it's been nicer to not have to travel so far for this event.

Long travel days have become the norm for any North American team with aspirations of competing in tier one CS. Just last month, Complexity General Manager Graham "messioso" Pitt explained that the team had taken 99 flights, with each flight lasting 3 hours and 50 minutes on average in the opening three months of 2023. With the two Americas RMRs in 2022 both taking place in Europe, FaNg has welcomed the Mexican-based RMR.

Before this, we were in Dallas so it was an hour and thirty-minute flight which honestly, I haven't had a flight like that in a while. Having that opportunity to just get here and not be jetlagged feels nice and naturally more comfortable coming into an event like this so yeah it's nice.

With no jet lag to worry about, FaNg also acknowledged another factor that has plagued the team as of late. Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli's inability to make it to the US for the Spring Showdown resulted in the AWPer being forced to play on 100+ ping for the event. With hallzerk now in Mexico, that is one less issue for Complexity to worry about so FaNg is convinced that we will see the real Complexity in Monterrey.

That stuff wasn't in our control and those results don't really give a good representation of our team, but coming into this event we don't have any excuses.

The grueling Swiss system that has teams staring down the barrel of elimination after an opening loss doesn't seem to bother FaNg and Complexity. Having aspirations of making the Major means not thinking about things like that according to the Canadian, who will be hoping to get off to a winning start today at 05:30PM against Solid.
