An Insani performance can't topple Fnatic

An Insani game isn't enough

MIBR were close to taking their first opening match of ESL Pro League, but couldn't convert an inspirational Insani performance.

North America were getting their first taste of action this morning as MIBR took on Fnatic for their opening match of ESL Pro League Season 17. With the sudden rise of Felipe "insani" Yuji all eyes are on MIBR as they still reel from losing two vital members in Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes who left for Imperial in 2022.

The match kicked off on MIBR's pick of Ancient and would make sure to take their T-side pistol to set the tone of the match. However, MIBR could not find their groove as the first half proved to be much more difficult than imagined.

It would be slightly back and forth during the first half as MIBR pulled away for a 5-3 lead, but would soon relinquish it as fnatic closed it out 9-6. For fnatic, their T-side was even more effective than their CT side as they would win the pistol and only let MIBR gain a single CT-round as the British organization won the map, 16-7.

With MIBR in the hole at 0-1, they really might regret going to Overpass where both teams have a 60% win rate while MIBR had a 64% win rate on Ancient and fnatic had... none. The game would not start in the way MIBR needed as they would win their CT pistol, but lose the next few rounds to quickly go down 1-4. They would climb back a bit, but still lose the first half 6-9.

fnatic would battle hard, and even go down 12-11 at one point. However it was all false hope for the Brazilian as an eco-round would crush their dream and give fnatic an easy route to a 16-12 victory. They will now head to the next round where they play Outsiders while MIBR are headed to the lower bracket to match up against the Mongolians from IHC.
