Evil Geniuses sign former Complexity AWPer

The 22-year-old AWPer was on Complexity's bench since July 2022.

Evil Geniuses have announced the addition of Paytyn "junior" Johnson who will be stepping into the EG Black roster. Replacing Jerric "wiz" Jiang who was called up to the main EG lineup, this will mark junior's return to competition after being replaced in the Complexity roster by Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli following their IEM Cologne 2022 exit. Complexity confirmed the players departure via Twitter on February 20th, wishing the player best of luck in his next adventure.

junior's time in tier one has been turbulent for numerous reasons. His first real break was when he signed for Brazilian giant FURIA, replacing Henrique "HEN1" Teles in early 2021. Stepping down from the active roster in June 2021 after obvious communication issues with his primarily Portuguese-speaking teammates, junior would restart his run at the top level at the start of 2022, joining Complexity. Form would be a major issue for junior while representing the North American organization, coming under scrutiny within the community on numerous occasions.

The inaugural fl0m cup appears to have been a test run for junior in this roster, standing in for his future team following wiz's promotion to the main roster. Despite only winning one series and losing to Strife in the semifinals, junior clearly passed the test for EG as he was the highest performer on the team with a 1.21 rating.

With the addition of junior, EG Black roster is now:

  • Canada Colby "Walco" Walsh

  • United States William "RUSH" Wierzba

  • Canada Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz

  • United States Jeorge "jeorge" Endicott

  • United States Paytyn "junior" Johnson

  • United States Tommy "Axed" Ryan (Coach)

I wanna see an in-house EG tournament between all 4 cs teams to determine who goes to EPL because tbh, I'm not sure it would be the main team
