Geniuses outsmarted
Evil Geniuses are riding the high from their victory over Heroic in their first match of 2023, but have struggled to replicate that form as they enter IEM Katowice where they were matched up against fnatic on Inferno.
The Americans looked to set the tone on their offensive side by winning the pistol, but was unable to convert any of the following rounds. The squad were forced to save on the second round after some pistol mastery from the Europeans and from then on were unable to make the most of their executes. EG would only be able to secure two rounds as they would lose the first half 12-3.
EG would give hope to fans after they executed a perfect aggressive CT pistol round, but the pistols from fnatic would be too much once more as they lose the second round and EG would once more be on the back foot. Despite some heroic late battles and last second defuses, fnatic would not be stopped on their offense as they closed out the game 16-8.
The Americans are now sent to the lower bracket where they will face the loser of Sprout v. OG.
