ESL explain fnatic round replay

Fnatic's match against Outsiders saw the latest Rio crash issue, this time with the entire fnatic team disconnecting at the same time.

ESL have responded after questions over a particular round in the fnatic vs Outsiders match on Overpass where the EU mix team simultaneously disconnected from the server. It was just the latest instance of players suffering from crashes at Rio, with there being six different occassions already in just two days.

Questions were raised due to the admin's decision to replay this round, whereas the previously understood ruling was if the damage had been dealt in a round there would be no ability to replay it, regardless of if a player drops out of the server. There seems to be confusion even within the players that are playing the event, with OG's IGL Nemanja "nexa" Isaković even taking to twitter to voice his confusion at the decision.

However, it has now come to light that there is a sub-section in the ESL rulebook that explicitly deals with a case of multiple crashes that then make it impossible to determine the round outcome, due to it being a 3v3 post-plant Fnatic had equal chance to win the round had they all stayed online. Below is ESL's statement:

The match between FNATIC and Outsiders had five FNATIC players disconnect at the same time, due to a power issue in their tournament box. The ruling to restart the match was done on the basis of section “2.10.3 Match interruptions” in the Rulebook for IEM Rio 2022 which can be found here. The rule applied states that:

If the issue takes place during the round, after damage has occurred and the outcome of the round cannot be determined (e.g. due to server crash), the match will be restored to the beginning of the round.

This differs from the ruling used in the matches where players such as sh1ro, F1KU crashed during the round. The rule used in these cases where a single player disconnected states that:

If the issue takes place during a round and after damage has been made, and the outcome of the round can still be determined (e.g. a single player has dropped but others remain), then the round will not be replayed or restored. The round will continue to be played and will count. Special exceptions can be made if the damage dealt was ruled insignificant e.g. accidental teammate damage dealt at the start of the round or if the damage dealt was by the team that was affected by the crash.
