missharvey may get to face her former team in Valencia

CLG Red and FOREVER 21 qualify for DreamHack Showdown

The two teams will head to Valencia next month to take on the best female squads from Asia and Europe.

Three days ago, DreamHack announced that the qualification process for the female-only DreamHack Showdown event had been "streamlined" in North America, presumably due to lack of sign ups. This meant that the top two teams from the open qualifier would go straight through to the main event, which will be held in Valencia from July 5th-7th.

When the qualifier did kick off yesterday, eleven teams had registered, with the most notable teams being CLG Red, ANEW, paiN fe, and the FOREVER 21 mix led by veteran Stephanie "missharvey" Harvey.

CLG Red, with trial play Catherine "CAth" Leroux in tow, had a relatively straight forward time in their path to qualification, with two 2-0 victories over The Hissters and the Brazilian ladies of paiN fe seeing them through to Valencia.

On the other side of the bracket, FOREVER 21 had a slighly more difficult time, as after taking down Powerpuff Gamers 2-0, they had to gut out a 2-1 victory over ANEW.

The top four of the DreamHack Showdown qualifier were:

1-2. United States CLG Red (di, Emy, reffinej, GooseBreeder, CAth) - Qualified
1-2. United States FOREVER 21 (missharvey, Bouchard, masq, klaudia, missPerceived) - Qualified
3-4. Brazil paiN (showliana, pan, gaBi, bizinha, izaa)
3-4. United States ANEW (Natty, Naomi, SamanthaG, athxna, Kionetta)

The full standings are available here.

The current team list for DreamHack Showdown is now:

TBD TBD

Outside of North America, parallel qualifiers have run in Asia and Europe, which have promoted a handful of teams to their region's respective Closed Qualifiers.
