JRT will not be on the mic before playoffs

ECL caster falls ill before playoffs

After a fantastic showing at ESL Rotterdam, JRT will be sitting on the sidelines as he recovers from COVID-19.

A mainstay of the ESL Challenger League broadcasts, John "JRT" Tsoupanarias will not be a commentator for the upcoming playoffs as he recovers from COVID-19. JRT is coming back from ESL Challenger at DreamHack Rotterdam 2022 where he appeared as an analyst on the broadcast alongside fellow NA commentary mainstay, Mike "DarfMike" Winnick.

JRT was set to cover his 10th season of ESL Challenger / MDL / Premier Playoffs, however COVID-19 has unfortunately brought that milestone to a slight halt. In a statement to Dust2.us, JRT said;

I’m really sad to be sidelined from the playoffs after covering an exciting season of ECL, but know that Austin (Boggs) will deliver a great cast in my place. Should be an exciting finish to the season as well, with lots of potential storylines just waiting to unfold. While I’d of course rather be casting than watching, I need to focus on resting and recovering at the moment. That said, I’m still excited to see who will claim 1st place in Season 42!

Action for the ECL playoffs beings tonight at 08:00PM with must-watch matches of EG Black vs Vendetta, oNe vs Nouns, and MIBR vs Iron Blood. Full schedule for the bracket is available here.

Brazil MIBR vs United States Iron Blood at 08:00PM
United States EG Black vs United States Vendetta at 08:00PM
Brazil oNe vs United States Nouns at 08:00PM
United States Brazen vs World ATK at 08:00PM

At Dust2.us, we wish JRT all the best as he recovers from COVID-19 and we look forward to seeing him back on stream in the near future!
