biguzera avenged the clean sweep during the Americas RMR

paiNful errors cost Imperial

A crucial semi-buy loss on the first map and one bad half on Vertigo made this loss a reality.

Imperial vs. paiN is starting to feel like an old classic, as the teams have faced each other four times in the last month and a half, with both winning one BO3 series and Imperial winning a BO1 on top of that. Today, Imperial and paiN fought for a grand final spot in the Flow FiReLEAGUE 2022 Global Finals.

The legend-packed Brazilian roster clean swept Isurus to reach this stage, while paiN barely survived against MASONIC.

The map veto defined that the series would go through Dust2, picked by paiN, and Overpass, chosen by Imperial. If needed, Vertigo would be the decider.

Map one started off pretty well for paiN, with the team winning the T-side pistol and making Imperial go through an economic crisis for the next two rounds. After recovering their economy, Imperial managed to get a 4-3 lead. The teams then exchanged a couple of rounds in a row, with Romeu "zevy" Rocco being the most active player for paiN in the first half, during which the AWPer ended with 19 kills. The teams changed sides with an 8-7 score in favor of paiN.

The second half had Imperial not winning the pistol once again, and allowed their opponents to make some bank after they only found one victim. Once again, paiN had the next two round and this time they even won the bonus round, getting to a 12-7 lead. Imperial were struggling on the T-side, having found them on a 13-8 deficit but the team's experience and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes' attitude gave them a new life and Imperial won four straight to bring the game to 13-12. After a quick trade of rounds, Imperial had a chance to tie the game 14-14, with paiN not buying a lot of equipments that round, but the team fumbled, giving zevy and co. the 15th and losing their focus which culminated in a first map win for paiN.

Overpass saw yet another pistol round win for paiN, this time starting on the CT-side and only able to get one more round after that one. Ricardo "boltz" Prass continued to do a lot of damage just like in map one where he top fragged for his team, and was pushing his teammates along in this map. Three rounds in a row for them had Imperial take the lead 3-2. After three more rounds for the green org, paiN woke up and replied with five of their own, getting ahead 7-6. On the back of chelo and Fernando "fer" Alvarenga, Imperial went to the break with an 8-7 lead.

Finally, after losing three pistols, Imperial found one, setting them up for a potential great start to the second half. Despite winning the following round, paiN showed up with a great T-side and won five of the next six rounds, getting ahead by just one round. Imperial tied the game up 12-12 thanks to a great 4K from fer. Regardless of such a round, paiN continued winning rounds and managed to get to a 14-12 score. Imperial tied the game once again on the back of boltz and chelo, and had the economic advantage going into round 29. A not-so-good execution on B had paiN only able to fight for overtime on Overpass, but it wasn't needed as Imperial closed the map 16-14.

Vertigo started with Imperial on the CT-side after winning the knife round. Things started well for the Brazilian legends, but only the star. After winning the CT-side pistol and the eco round from paiN, Imperial didn't manage to answer the offense led by Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt. 11-4 was the score after round 15 as Imperial got the first and the last two rounds of the half.

Once again Imperial won the pistol and the following round and that was it for them. The map ended 16-6 with paiN winning.

With this win, paiN advance to the grand final of the Flow FiReLEAGUE 2022 Global Finals, where they will face the winner of the Spirit vs. 9z series. The grand final will be played today at 03:00PM.
