dumau is one of the youngest players qualified for the major

dumau on his family's support: "We didn't have money, but they gave me their love"

The 18-year-old is excited to be on this journey with the two legends of the game.

After qualifying for the major with a win over Complexity, Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer talked with Dust2us' Liam "Slevo" Slevin about the match, the feeling of qualifying, and what's like playing with two of the biggest names of the Brazilian scene.

Just qualified for the Rio major in a tough game against Complexity. Tell me a bit about that game to qualify for this major.

It was a hard game. The game was very close but we did it. It was very hard, but we did our best and we gave everything we had. Now, two days ago, three months ago, we are giving everything we have to get better. I'm very proud of the guys, it's very good to see everyone giving their all every day and having that result.

Complexity was the favorite coming into the series in the eyes of a lot of people. It was a three-map series that got very close. Tell me a bit about how Complexity played today and how you guys prepared for them.

They were faking a lot. What I felt was that they would see us giving space for them and they knew and they started to use the space for themselves to fake other spaces. In Overpass we were playing passive B and they saw us giving up sandbags and monster and they started to do fakes on A. It was working but we did it, we got it.

TACO and coldzera are two legends of the game and they have spoken very highly of you, latto, and try in the past. What is it like to play with them and see them qualify for this major in Brazil?

For me, especially, is a dream because when I was younger I saw them play and I was like 11 years old. They inspired me, they ignited this fire inside of me. To play with them is a dream. TACO and coldzera are the best in the world. It's all about the team and getting better every day. To be in this process with them is very good. I am learning a lot of things with them and it's special. It's like living a dream.

Another legend of the scene who is here at the moment is FalleN and earlier this week he hinted that he doesn't have a lot of tournaments left in him and he could be coming towards the end of his career. What is it like seeing him play for Rio but having to go through the tiebreakers at 2-2?

Everyone here has their time, ups and downs, everyone is human. It's good to see him try. We can see him giving his best and we can see he has a lot of love for this game. That's something nothing can pay. He is 30 years old and he playing well this year. He has good movement, and he has a great mind and thought process about the game. He can pass or not but it's good to see him giving his best.

The first Brazilian team to go through was FURIA. What do you think about them and their recent form?

I didn't watch much of FURIA playing but they have a different style, they have very good players and it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't but you never know. I didn't watch many of them, but what I can see from their results, they are doing well.

You have qualified for the major in Brazil. We know now that there will be crowds for all three stages. Are you excited to be playing in front of a crowd throughout all of it?

Yes, of course. People giving support is very good. The energy, I can already feel it. It's so exciting and I'm happy to have this opportunity in our country, we will give our best and we will give everything we have. I can feel it already and it's very exciting.

Have your family booked their tickets for the major yet?

Yes, of course, they will be there. There is no way, they need to be there. To see me playing, my family gave their support for me, since I was a kid. We didn't have money, but they gave me their love and dedication to be a better person and with that, I can get better as a player as well. I have a great base from them and I'm very happy and grateful for that. My family is my base, no money but too much love, and now I'm grateful everything is going well.

You just qualified but looking forward to the major and some of the teams that already qualified, what are your expectations for yourself and the team going there?

We are going to give more. I need to find a balance because sometimes I play very well because I know what is happening, and sometimes I play worse but I will try to find my balance the best as I can. Too many things to learn yet with my teammates. They are good people, and great characters, so I'm trying to learn from them as well and bring what is good for me and get better every day.

Is there anything you want to say to the Brazilian fans that are going to be there to watch you and the ones that are going to be watching you at home?

Can I answer in Portuguese?

Yes, of course!

Valeu.
(I hope everyone seeing this will be at the major to watch us. Enjoy this opportunity just like we will, of playing in our own country, and representing it. I want you all to feel all this energy. A lot of emotions right now but I hope you feel our energy. We are all giving our best for you guys too, for everyone, and for the country. Thank you.)
