FURIA start Americas RMR with statement win
The IEM Road to Rio Americas RMR has finally started and one of the first games to open the long-awaited qualifier for the major was FURIA versus Infinity.
FURIA entered the competition with high hopes of qualifying as the first seed, not even considering not being present at the Rio de Janeiro major in November. On the other side, the Inifinity squad has come into the RMR as the lowest seed, hoping to get some upsets during their run in Stockholm and get a lot of practice against Americas' finest.
The map vetoing favors the highest seed, leaving that team with the choice to choose the side they want to start the map on. The bans decided that Ancient was going to be the map played in the first game and FURIA started on the CT-side.
This game didn't have a lot of history, as FURIA, naturally, showed they aren't at the same level as Infinity.
The first half started out with five in a row for FURIA before Infinity made their first. The game then passed by a 7-1 score and, after that, the Latin squad only managed to put one on the board, as the half ended 13-2 for FURIA.
The second half went the same way as the first, with FURIA winning the pistol and stringing together the remaining rounds. The game ended 16-2.
The highlight of the game was Rafael "saffee" Costa, as the AWPer put up 28 kills with only 8 deaths.
