zNf and BASE are no longer a part of Variance

Variance continues as BASE and zNf step down

Just under two weeks after their additions, the two players have chosen to part ways with the team.

A little over a week after announcing the additions of Donovan "zNf" Froid and Colton "BASE" Musella to their roster, Variance have announced that both players have been released from the team.

A tweet from BASE revealed that it was his decision to step down from the team, with this being the first time in his career that he had opted to do so. He further elaborated that "the team was not meshing well" and that he "did not feel as it was an environment that was best for [him]."

When questioned about the move by Dust2.us, BASE added that he felt "there was a very large difference in the style (he) was calling vs what [the team] were used to." He is once again on the search for a new lineup, having already been removed from Polar Ace at the start of the month.

When contacted by Dust2.us, zNf revealed that it was a similar situation for him as the roles in the team didn't fit and that things felt out of place among the players, prompting him to step down. Both zNf and BASE emphasized that the decision to part ways with the team was mutual, with no bad blood among the players or organization. When asked about whether he would search for a new team, zNf informed us that he intends to step back from professional play "for now", and is that he is unsure whether he will search for a new team.

The roster change for Variance is the latest in a week that saw a number of notable MDL teams make moves, most notably with MASSIVEimpact undergoing a restructuring and Tyson "TenZ" Ngo parting ways with Bad News Bears amid talks of a move to Envy.

This leaves Variance with:

  • United States Ezekiel "KmZ" Hughes
  • Canada Justin "FaNg" Coakly
  • United States Kevin "4pack" Przypasniak
  • United States George "Powerzz" Yaede (Backup)
  • Canada Stoyno "neska" Atansov (Backup)

Variance are currently 2-3 in MDL Season 31, with their next match seeing them take on FURIA on May 21st at 8 PM EDT. It is currently unknown who Variance will field in their matchup, although both George "Powerzz" Yaede and Stoyno "neska" Atansov remain on the roster as backups.

The team also ended their WINNERS League Season 2 run at the bottom of Group A with a 0-7 record, leaving them firmly out of playoff contention.
